I met lot of people during my 15 years stay away from my home and 4-5 years stay away from my country, who still remembers the very small joyful things of life, even they might have traveled across the world. ‘The London Bridge, the Great wall of china, the tower of Paris, they are all buildings, the real emotions are still in the same old street of our small village or town.
I never enjoyed this song “Oh mere desh me pawan chale purwai… mere desh me…’ may be I could not get time to feel it. May be at different time I am the right person for whom this song is made. When I was in Chandigarh and if I get an opportunity to see a news about Najafgarh or New Delhi, that use to give me a joy, a feeling of belongingness, a feeling of meeting someone known at some un-trodden road. When I was out of country, a news of India gives an immense joy. The feeling of doing something for the country comes more and more, when we are away from her, it is to be seen, if it remains in, when we are back in our country. The feeling of doing something for the country depends on the individuals but I admire people who dare to raise voice to improve the system, who work for the society while in the system, once we are out of it, we may criticize it, but the bravery is to be in it and fight to improve. Many people of ‘Indian Origin’ who sometime say, India can not do this. Only US has those systems or only UK can maintain such a high standard of living. Forgetting more of the technical team is controlled by people who have been originated from India or migrated from India.
I was in a call, few days back, when I heard someone stating this ‘The brain resides in India, they are more hard working, they speak a better English and also cost effective, so we have to focus there to migrate our business processes to be competitive.
The whole world is like a big country now, the labor rate in India, China or Brazil will affect the labor rate in Europe or US. The supply of megnisite from Eastern Europe or China will affect the international price of Refractory across the world, so now the talent can not be ignored, efforts and capability has to be acknowledged, where ever you are or what ever you do. So we need to continue our efforts what ever others feel about it.
Another thing which I do not agree is that the patriotism before India got freedom was the patriotism and being appreciated and acknowledged. Bhagat Singh, Gandhiji, Nehru ji and many more great leaders, who came forward and sacrificed their lives, must be respected as they brought our freedom back, but it is a call of time now that we continue and keep on finding the living legends ‘the Bhagat Singh’, ‘the Gandhi’ or ‘the Nehru’ who are still alive, fighting for us, some where in the country. We must also respect and acknowledge the living legends, as they are still fighting for us. We must appreciate them and to see if they are motivated enough to fight for us. When the movie ‘Rang De Basanti’ was released this thought was brought on life for the fist time. Do you know why the movie was a hit, because we all are convinced we are still patriotic and equally emotional and dedicated for the country as our leaders before independence were. I disagree with people who say…” ” अरे भाई वो लोग अब कहाँ ? ”
This non belief leads to problem, I strongly believe, we still have people equaly dedicated and patriotic as were our past leaders, when ever opportunity comes, they keep on proving it. Now the situation is changing, earlier any person who use to raise voice against government was a patriotic hero, as the government was not ours and we wanted freedom from them. But…. the now the government may be doing similar or modified similar things of ignoring social welfare, law and order and the person who raise a voice is no more a patriotic, rather he will be sitting is Jail next day, struggling to arrange for bail. Anyway nothing emotional for this, we are on learning stage, so is our government, I still remember the last line of ‘Rang de Basanti’. We are government; we make systems if the system is not good, we have to improve it. We have to raise voice to correct it.
The positive thing is, we have potential. We have proved this when we go abroad and make the whole world to know our presence, we perform better, we are better citizens, so why can’t we do in our country. Why the same people of India or for this matter from any country are a good citizen in Gulf, or US or Europe or UK. Simple they can not break the law, every where there are cameras on the street, in the shops, in the parking, in the parks and sometime in the common areas of toilets, anyone who breaks the law on road or in society would be the news channel next day. So I have my doubts, if the people are really honest there or the fear of good system makes them a good citizen. This means we also need better systems to make good citizens, which requires more funds and more will power. More reforms to collect tax by converting more accounted earnings which is not taxed right now. and better utilisation of same.
All the best to us. I am sure we will succeed some day.

No body denies “potential” of India and Indians. Sitting peacefully in foreign countries, we should not be talking of changing the system and that we are the government, we are the system…. Will appreciate truly when one day you will make an effort in really improving something about India… I personally think that even I am not adding much value to the country,
Baki, like your Time pass article… this comment was also a TP only…
Rajiv, this TP comments actually talks about reality. Believe me it is high time for all of us to realise and wake up, if we can not work for the country at least try to build a good image before the world, by delivery good quality work where ever we are. Life never gives us time, by the time we are able to feed our family the life is gone. Anyway thanks for comments. I always wait for your comments as they are really sincere and out of heart. Cheers: Krishan
